Japanese tourists and Londoners crowd outside the Louis Vuitton pop-up shop at Selfridges, jostling to get in. They don't have much time; the space inside the British department store opened in November and will close in January. Offering merchandise like key rings, dog accessories, and handbags, the shop serves not only as a backup for the brand's always-packed permanent space in Selfridges, but also as a lure for new customers who might not normally venture into Louis Vuitton. Earlier this year Jimmy Choo and Edun operated temporary tiffany keys in the store, and two weeks ago London jewelry designer Anna Lou opened her market-stall-inspired shop. "Pop-up retail is a different take on the whole limited-edition concept," says Linda Hewson, head of creative for Selfridges. "It causes a stir, then disappears, and people are really fascinated by that."
That fascination has made it the season's hottest trend. Retailers that want to introduce a new product or line open a shop-in spaces ranging from disused warehouses to high-end department stores-for a few days or weeks to generate buzz. And it's that buzz, not the volume of products sold, that counts, says Reinier Evers, founder of Trendwatching.com. "If you combine a pop-up space with limited-edition products, then that is a double sweet spot," he says. The shops sometimes feel like art galleries or theaters. Swanfield, a London consortium of tiffany earrings on sale that has opened several pop-up shops across the city, often features live performances and art shows in its spaces.
Pop-up, or guerrilla, retail started as a rogue concept by edgy fashion retailers like Vacant, which sells exclusive labels and has opened temporary shops in places like Shanghai, Berlin, and L.A. Target was one of the first mainstream retailers to embrace the concept; the company opened a temporary shop in New York's Rockefeller Center in 2004 to promote Isaac Mizrahi's new line, and since then has developed others, including one in the Hamptons and a floating store on the Hudson River. Other big names followed, including the Gap-which has opened temporary shops in Paris, London, and New York-and the Japanese brand Uniqlo, which opened a few guerrilla branches in Paris this year, including in the department store Colette.

Take it out and let it sit for as long
Turn your oven to 425 degrees. Put three sticks of butter and a bowl of water that tiffany pendants on sale ice in it in the fridge. Cubes, not chips. Put the food-processor bowl and the sharp blade thingy in the freezer. l When that stuff gets cold, take out the bowl and blade and put in 2 3/4 cups of flour, a teaspoon of sugar, and a teaspoon of salt. Cut 2 1/4 sticks of butter into pieces the size of a camera battery and drop them in a couple at a time while hitting "pulse" on the machine till it all looks like coarse meal. If you don't know what that is, go look at the smaller pieces of gravel in your driveway. l Slowly pour, like, 7 or 8 tablespoons of the ice water in with the flour gravel and pulse it till it comes together into a ball that isn't sticky. Take it out and knead it on a counter sprinkled with flour, but not too much or the molecules will get stretchy and the dough will be tough. Form the dough into two big air-hockey pucks and cover with plas-tic wrap. Put them in the fridge for at least an hour. If you tiffany ring about the dough, you can throw it in the freezer (but once the seasons have changed, chuck it). l Roll the pucks into circles bigger than a pie. Drape one over the pie pan with a little extra hanging over, and fill it with cut-up fruit mixed with a little flour, cinnamon, and a drop or two of rum, and dot the top with butter. Cover it with the other dough circle, pinch the edges together, and cut some little holes in the top of the pie with a knife. Make a design or write a message to someone, code or otherwise. For a yummy, richer crust, brush with heavy cream and sprinkle with raw sugar from the packets at Starbucks. Put foil all around the edge so it doesn't burn; take it off after the pie has cooked for, like, 20 minutes and turn the temp down to 350. Cook for 25 minutes more or until juice is bubbling out of the Morse-code slashes. Take it out and let it sit for as long as you can wait but not so long that it gets cold.
Even though she spends her days wrestling with language as a writer and book critic, LIESL SCHILLINGER still can't get enough of this wordy board game.
FROFRO. That is a word that describes the motion of a fluffy dog's tail wagging. Or so my father insisted many summers ago, during a heated family game of Scrabble on our screened porch in Indiana, as we drank my mother's homemade lemonade and laughed above the roar of neighbors' lawn mowers. My dad was angling for 36 points on a triple-word score, and though we loved him, there were standards to uphold. According to the dictionary, FROFRO was not a word! We stood our ground. In the end, I think he won the game tiffany rings for sale. (At 4, 7, and 10, we kids weren't daunting rivals.) But he did put a bit of a dent in the father-knows-best myth that day.

bangles mingle with young Tibetans in jeans and reversed baseball caps and walk clockwise around the temple alongside pilgrims, tourists, policemen, and trinket sellers. Adjacent to the old city is the Lhasa Muslim Quarter with mosques and butcher shops. Despite a continuous assault on religion by the Chinese for six decades, Buddhism remains central to the lives of most Tibetans, and the Dalai Lama lives in the hearts of virtually all Tibetans.
The newly dominant Han rebuilt the western part of Lhasa with wide avenues, billboards with neon tiffany silver keyrings, shopping malls, supermarkets, discotheques, Sichuan restaurants, and brothels disguised as massage parlors. The new railway station is also in the west, where trains from the east bring hundredsof Han immigrantsdaily. Inthe western partof the city, the Han inhabitants are now as fanatically devoted to consumerism as they once were to Communist austerity.
During our travels in Tibet, it was hard to get away from the visible symbols and signs of modernization. It is most visible in urban areas, where Han entrepreneur migrants from China live. Modernization has largely left untouched farmers in small villages, laborers repairing the roads, and idle Tibetans playing pool in roadside dwellings.
Tibetans suffered under totalitarian Communism in the 1960s and 1970s; tiffany cufflink, they confront a ruthlessly materialistic dissolute capitalism, which threatens to diminish their religious and cultural identity. Most of what China has done in Tibet has been the result of a policy promoting Chinese colonization rather than improving the lives of Tibetans. We saw the presence of the Chinese military everywhere. One reason for this may be the existence of insurgency through most of the last six decades.
It's no mystery that the sexy singer and actress is multitalented. What is a mystery? shop for tiffany pendants much everything else about her.
The last time we saw Fergie, she looked scary sexy. Dressed in leather bondage gear and wielding what looked like Satan's feather duster, she was tearing it up onstage with the Black Eyed Peas. That was one hot look, but it wouldn't exactly go over well in the place we're meeting her today: her husband Josh Duhamel's chichi country club in the upscale Los Angeles neighborhood of Brentwood, an area Fergie calls Wisteria Lane because of its resemblance to the fictional burbs on Desperate Housewives.

Thayer pardoned him for the first offense
I took him up to the house and dressed his wound and kept him there until he tiffany for sale, which didn't take long.
Sherrod said he always believed someone at the dance had tampered with Watkins' gun, hoping to get him killed. A few months after this incident, Watkins and his ranch hand Richard Rogers, who sometimes went by "Sam Jackson," had their courthouse run-in with Sheriff Brophy and Deputy Fee. Well-known black cowboy Nat Love rode into Laramie with several companions that day and 30 years later gave this garbled account in his autobiography:
[It was) just as the notorious Jack Watkins escaped from the Albany County jail, and the excitement in the town was at fever heat. Jack Watkins, who was probably the most desperate criminal that was ever placed behind prison bars, had been arrested and placed in close confinement, as the officers of the Western states had long tried to effect his capture. And they did not want to take any chances of losing him now that they had him, but for all their caution he escaped, shooting Deputy Sheriff Lawrence [Fee] in the leg, crippling him for life.
Ex-conductor Brophy was at that time sheriff. The officers, noting our arrival at such time, at tiffany necklaces for sale ordered us out of the city, as they suspected we knew something about the outbreak. We protested our innocence of any knowledge of the trouble. But appearances were against us, so we had to leave, going direct to Cheyenne, Wyo.
The depredations of Watkins and followers once again raised the threat of mob violence in Laramie. There was talk on the streets of resurrecting the vigilance committee that had been active during the town's early days and of seizing Watkins' cohort from jail and administering summary hempen justice. But cooler heads, led by Sheriff Brophy, prevailed, and townspeople made no attempt to lynch Rogers.
Although it was never clear whether Watkins or Rogers fired the shot that wounded tiffany necklaces on sale and Fee, Rogers, the bird in hand, was the one who stood trial, charged with assault with intent to kill. On August 14, 1875, he was convicted and sentenced to three years in the territorial prison. A year later another jury convicted him on a second charge of larceny. On July 31, 1876, Territorial Governor John M. Thayer pardoned him for the first offense and on March 3 1 , 1877, issued another pardon for the second offense. After serving one year, seven months and 17 days, Rogers walked out of the prison at Laramie and, without apparently joining up with Watkins again, disappeared from the pages of history.
